Masonry Unit Manufacturing Technology Using Polymeric Binder

Abstract: 1 The paper discusses a problem of formation and search of efficient ways to recycle wastes generated by waste treatment plants, a proposed technology for their heat treatment and utilization of waste as a raw material component for the production of masonry units. Highdensity polyethylene is used as a binder. Show more

“…Density and viscosity of the present study oil is close to the density of pure diesel. Other researchers also showed the densities of liquid fuels product from HDPE, PS, and PP as 0.80, 0.90, and 0.81 g/cm 3 , respectively 17 and also the kinematic viscosities of pyrolytic fuels product from HDPE, PS, and PP have been shown as 2.373, 1.461, and 2.115 mm 2 /s, respectively. 17 So, it may be replaced by plastic pyrolysis oil.…”

“…In general, municipal solid waste consists of HDPE, LDPE, polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). [1][2][3] Fossil fuels also are of great concern today due to its declining resources. So, if depolymerized efficiently they may produce smaller size hydrocarbons which can be used as fuels.…”

“…A number of researchers around the world have taken numerous efforts, trying to identify the possibility of applying global modern technologies, considering overriding values and principles of maintaining a clean environment. [1][2][3][4] The increase in the consumption of cement/ concrete as the main building material is due to the rapid growth of the world population in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Despite the uniqueness of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), its production is characterized by several negative properties: high consumption of energy resources and raw materials, as well as high carbon dioxide emissions (due to the decarbonization of limestone).…”
