“…A high trophic magnification of PBDEs compared to Dechloranes has already been reported in waterbirds from China (Zhang et al 2011). This could also be an explanation for the high PBDE contributions in eels compared to dabs, which are at a similar trophic position (Gloyne and Shepherd, 1978) but have significantly lower lipid content and therefore lower bioaccumulation capacity for the highly lipophilic PBDEs (Shen et al 2011).
