Marine Actinomycetes-derived Natural Products

Abstract: : Actinomycetes is an abundant resource for discovering a large number of lead compounds, which play an important role in microbial drug discovery. Compared to terrestrial microorganisms, marine actinomycetes have unique metabolic pathways because of their special living environment, which has the potential to produce a variety of bioactive substances. In this paper, secondary metabolites isolated from marine actinomycetes are reviewed (2013-2018), most of which exhibited cytotoxic, antibacterial, and antivira… Show more

“…Secondary metabolites produced by microorganisms living in different habitats vary widely, and a large number of natural compounds with novel structures and excellent activity have been found [100,101] . As a results from the huge differences with the land environment, marine‐derived microorganisms are favored by scientists, and marine actinomycetes and endogenic bacteria play an important role in the study of natural products [102–105] . The insecticidal activity of these microorganisms and related compounds has attracted great research interest.…”

Marine Bacteria Actinobacteria, especially from the genus Streptomyces, represent a rich source of biologically active molecules [33][34][35][36][37][38][39]. Jakubiec-Krzesniak and collaborators [36] reported more than hundred natural products from actinomycetes, which exhibit anti-infective activities, and more than 70% of these metabolites were produced by Streptomyces strains.…”

“…Since then, a number of secondary metabolites have been discovered from marine Micromonospora strains. Some reviews on marine actinomycetes or marine rare actinomycetes involved partially the bioactive natural products from Micromonospora . In view of the increasing number of chemically diverse and bioactive compounds from marine Micromonospora , it is necessary to present a comprehensive review on natural products from the specific genus.…”
