Mapping of microsatellite loci and association of aorta atherosclerosis with LG VI markers in the rabbit

Abstract: Twenty-three rabbit microsatellites were extracted from the EMBL nucleotide database. Nine of these markers, together with nine earlier published microsatellite markers, were found to be polymorphic between the AX/JU and IIIVO/JU inbred strains. By using an F(2) intercross we could integrate five markers into the rabbit linkage map. One anonymous microsatellite marker could be assigned to chromosome 1, and one microsatellite marker, located within the metallothionein-1 gene, could be added to linkage group VI … Show more

“…These microsatellites were previously shown to be genetically linked to the C-locus and Est-5, which are assigned to linkage group 1 on OCU1 (Korstanje et al, 2001a). Our results confirm the localization of LGI on OCU1.…”

“…The mapping of NPT2 to OCU3p and of PMP2 to OCU3q is in agreement with the comparative painting data (see Table 3). The microsatellite located within PMP2, Sat3, together with the anonymous microsatellite Sol33 and the ileal lipid binding protein gene (FABP6) form linkage group XI (Korstanje et al 2001a). In the present study we mapped Sol33 just proximal to PMP2 on OCU3q11 (Fig.…”
