The results of the study of the main characteristics and structural features of the aquifer systems of cold and thermal waters on the example of well-known sources in the Middle East are presented. The study of groundwater aquifers was carried out on the basis of the technology of geophysical data complex interpretation, taking into account the features of the aquifers geological structure. Aquifers and underground reservoirs are visualized as zones of reduced magnetization and density of rocks on deep petrophysical sections calculated from magnetic field and gravity anomalies. Horizontal subterranean water conduits can be clearly traced on the areal distributions of magnetization and density along the stretches of the lineaments with reduced values. Vertical subterranean water conduits stand out vividly on magnetic and density sections in the form of ascending tracks. As a result of the study of deep sections through the zones of known thermal springs, an estimate of the dependence of the source temperature on the depth of the feeding underground reservoirs was obtained. The article examines the potential of underground resources aquifers of the arid territories of Israel, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for which the relevance of the water problem, apparently, will not decrease in the coming decades. The forecast of the location of groundwater karst reservoirs can be carried out by magnetic and density sections, taking into account two-dimensional models of the distribution of magnetization and density of rocks. The methodology of the study of aquifer systems is applicable to the analysis of underground resources of Africa and the Middle East arid regions.

The aim of this work is to evaluate the efficiency of six electrode arrays used in electrical resistivity imaging. Pole-Pole (PP), Pole-Dipole (PD), Wenner-Alpha (WA), Wenner-Schlumberger (WS), Dipole-Dipole (DD) and multiple Gradient (MG) electrode arrays have been selected to detect underground cavities at shallow depth. Numerical simulation has been made for three synthetic models that have been generated using Res2dmod program. Each model represents three cavities with 2m diameter, spaced 6m from each other and located at a depth of 1.5m from the surface of the ground: 1) air-filled cavity, 2) half-watered cavity and 3) full-watered cavity. The background resistivity of each model was chosen equal to 10, 50 and 250 Ωm respectively. The resistivity of the air and water were set at 106 Ωm and 1 Ωm respectively. The results show that the PD, MG, PP and WS arrays gave good resolutions and clear images, and are less contaminated by noise. The DD array is very sensitive to noise and for this reason, it gave less accurate results for the first and the second synthetic models. An exception is the third synthetic model, where a good resolution model was obtained. This means, that the DD is more efficient in mapping cavities when the background environment is moderately resistive. The shapes of resistive air-filled cavities were found more clearly than those of conductive watered cavities, for the latter, however, the true resistivity values were better estimated than for the air-filled cavities. From the results of the analysis of the inverted synthetic models, the PD, MG, PP and WS arrays show the best results among the other used electrical arrays.

Non-destructive test which refers to electrical resistivity method is recently popular in engineering Ujian tak musnah yang merujuk kepada kaedah kerintangan elektrik semakin banyak digunakan dalam kajian kejuruteraan, alam sekitar, arkeologi dan perlombongan. Berdasarkan kajian terdahulu, interpretasi keputusan kerintangan elektrik sering diperdebatkan disebabkan kekurangan bukti kajian dalam perspektif kuantitatif. Kebiasaannya interpretasi keputusan kerintangan elektrik banyak bergantung kepada perspektif kualitatif justeru berkemungkinan besar berisiko tinggi untuk menghasilkan keputusan yang salah. Maka, kajian ini telah menjalankan uji kaji makmal kerintangan elektrik tanah disokong oleh uji kaji sifat asas fizikal tanah seperti uji kaji taburan saiz zarah (d), kandungan lembapan (w), ketumpatan (ρ bulk ) dan had Atterberg (LL, PL dan PI). Uji kaji dijalankan untuk menghasilkan satu siri nilai kerintangan elektrik (ERV) berdasarkan kuantiti air yang berbeza terhadap lempung berkelodak dan kelodak berpasir dalam keadaan longgar dan juga mampat. Hasil keputusan menunjukkan nilai kerintangan tanah adalah berbeza dalam keadaan longgar (L) dan mampat (C) serta variasi kandungan air dan juga ketumpatan (pasir berkelodak = ERV = 638.8ρ -0.418 , w (D) = 1397.1ρ -0.574
