ManIoT: A 2‐tier management platform for heterogeneous IoT devices and applications

Abstract: Summary The Internet of Things (IoT) is a paradigm where devices can interact with each other via an Internet connection. One of the challenges of IoT is the heterogeneity of the devices and applications comprising the network. Each object can have different processing capabilities or employ different communication standards. Further, applications can control different sensors, and each application may have conflicting goals. Thus, IoT systems must employ a context‐aware platform that supports a variety of sen… Show more

“…CASA‐IoT is a generic system that could be implemented into any IoT platform that performs processing on a centralized entity (eg, a gateway). In this work, we instantiated it as a component of the ManIoT architecture . MANIOT integrates heterogeneous IoT devices, providing generic and scalable control.…”

“…Antunes et al [63] propose a context-aware multi-level resource management approach based on mobile edge computing for the heterogeneous IoT applications. The authors have provided a physical methodology for global resource management based on the scalable reaction time perspective and a software methodology for local management based on storage, scheduling and authentication of information management in a context-aware policy management.…”
