Magneto‐Optic Studies of Donor Excitation Spectra in CdTe

Abstract: Magneto-transmission and magneto-photoconductivity excitation spectra of the hydrogenic impurity in CdTe have been studied. These results yield information concerning the correspondence between low magnetic field (nlm) and high magnetic field (NHL) levels.Splitting of the 2p (m = f l ) states suggests Stark effects on the hydrogenic centers.Magnetotransmissions-nnd Magnetophotoleitfahigkeits-Anregungsspektren der wasserstoffahnlichen Storstellen in CdTe wurden untersucht. Die Ergebnisse liefern Informationen i… Show more

“…(iii) n-CdTe.Cohn et aZ(l970,1972) have observed the 1s +2p transition for ashallow donor in n-CdTe at 10.79 meV; using a static dielectric constant of9.6 (Berlincourt et a1 1963) and an effective mass of (0.096 + 0.0008) m(Kanazawa and Brown 1964), the energy of this transition is predicted to be 10.66 meV, in good agreement with the experimentally observed position.Simmonds et a1 (1971),Wagner and McCombe (1974) and Golka et a1(1977) have reported the 1s --f 3p transition.Simmonds et a1 (1974) were…”

“…As was noted in the adjacent paper these values are greater than the low-frequency cyclotron mass by some 5%. This apparent increase is unexpected and is in the opposite direction to the "mass anomaly" in the Zeeeman splitting of the 2p states produced by the Stark fields of ionised impurities and reported in GaAs by Stillman et al [21] and in CdTe in the adjacent paper [3]. As the results cannot be fitted accurately to a single value of R*, possible perturbations to the hydrogenic model must be considered.…”
