“…Therefore, only few reports can be found in literature about the establishment and determination of magnetic structures mediated by organic ligands. 10,[20][21][22] In this paper, we explore the magnetic behavior and magnetic structures of a recently discovered metal-malonate family of formulae [Na 2 (µ-H 2 O) 2 M(C 3 H 2 O 4 ) 2 ] n ˗ denoted thereafter Na 2 M(H 2 C 3 O 4 ) 2 ⋅2H 2 O for sake of simplicity˗ where M is a transition metal at the 2+ oxidation state. Na 2 Cu(H 2 C 3 O 4 ) 2 ⋅2H 2 O was first reported in 2005 by Ghoshal et al 23 Besides solving the crystal structure from single crystal X-Ray diffraction, they studied its magnetic behavior, concluding that it exhibits weak ferromagnetic interactions with, however, no long range ordering.…”

“…The Cu II compound is ferromagnetic below T C = 4.5 K (Abdelouhab et al, 2005) and the Ni II analogue exhibits a very similar behavior (Carton et al, 2007b). Finally, the compounds based on Fe II and Mn II are compensated antiferromagnets with Né el points at 66 K (Mesbah et al, 2010) and 38.5 K (Sibille et al, 2012), respectively. The magnetic structures of the Co II (Feyerherm et al, 2003), Mn II (Sibille et al, 2012) and Fe II (Mesbah et al, 2010) compounds were solved using neutron powder diffraction data.…”

“…The macroscopic magnetic properties of hydroxyterephthalates of Co II (Huang et al, 2000), Fe II (Mesbah et al, 2010), Ni II (Carton et al, 2007b) and Cu II (Abdelouhab et al, 2005) have been extensively investigated. The Co II compound (Huang et al, 2000) presents a complex and original magnetic behavior.…”

“…x Fe x ) 2 (OH) 2 (C 8 H 4 O 4 ) investigated by Mesbah 66 showed partial cation ordering of the Fe 2+ cation on the M2 site and magnetic structures in which the magnetic moments reorient from along the edge-sharing chains to perpendicular to them between 50 % Fe and 25 % Fe. The difference in ordered magnetic moment on the two sites opens up around the same time, confirming this is related to one being close to the easy axis and one being close to the hard axis of the Co-rich phases.…”
