“…The MaRIA[ 17 - 19 , 22 ] and the Clermont score[ 19 - 21 , 23 , 24 , 48 ] are the two available MRI scores validated against endoscopy to assess ileocolonic activity in patients with CD. We investigated the performances of these two validated scores to detect endoscopic POR.…”

“…According to those authors, there is no widely accepted scoring system for grading the inflammatory activity of the disease. However, the Clermont score (31) and the magnetic resonance index of activity (32) have already been validated and have shown good accuracy in the detection of ulcers and of a treatment response in Crohn's disease (33) .…”

“…In detecting severe ulcerative inflammation, again both MR indices performed comparably well in our study, with a sensitivity of 1.0 but slightly reduced specificity (0.81 vs. 0.91 in their study for MaRIA and 0.79 vs. 0.89 for the Clermont score). In a prospective study with 207 ileocolonic segments, in which diagnostic accuracies of both MR indices were tested against the presence of superficial or deep ulcerations in endoscopy, MaRIA and the Clermont score were proven to be equally effective (6). The major distinction between MaRIA and the Clermont score is based on the omission of contrast-enhanced imaging and the addition of DWI in the Clermont score.…”
