“…The intensities of the magnetic peaks decrease with increasing temperature. At the lowest available temperature in the reported study (T = 1.5 K) the best refinement was obtained for the propagation vectors k 1 = (0.5775 (6), 0, 0.1717 (7)) and k 2 = (0.5783(2), 0, 1.0054 (13)) and Ho magnetic moments parallel to the b-axis and equal to µ 1 = 4.94(7) µ B and µ 2 = 6.54(6) µ B for the magnetic phase described by the propagation vectors k 1 and k 2 , respectively. It is worth noting that the x-components of these vectors are equal while significant difference is observed for their z-components.…”

“…In the course of our study of magnetic properties of pseudo-ternary HoRh 2−x T x Si 2 (T = Ru, Pd) systems we have found the ordering temperature of RPd 2 Si 2 to be about 5.8 K [7], that is much lower than the value reported earlier (T N = 21 K) [2]. Moreover, the evolution of the magnetic structure found in the HoRh 2−x Pd x Si 2 series of solid solutions [8] has been not consistent with the magnetic ordering reported for the limiting HoPd 2 Si 2 [2].…”

“…X-ray diffraction data indicate that also the HoRh 2−x Ru x Si 2 solid solution is formed over the whole composition range denoted by the index 0 x 2. As one may expect, the magnetic properties of transient compounds have been found to depend on the transition metal content x [4]. The boundary compounds of this system exhibit different magnetic structures: HoRh 2 Si 2 was found to be a collinear antiferromagnet characterized by the wave vector k = [0, 0, 1] with T N = 27 K [5] while HoRu 2 Si 2 shows a modulated antiferromagnetic order with k = [0.22, 0, 0] below T N = 19 K [6].…”

“…A neutron diffraction study has been therefore undertaken, supplemented by earlier [4] and new magnetometric measurements. In total, seven transient compounds of the HoRh 2−x Ru x Si 2 system were synthesized and investigated: x = 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75.…”

“…The HoRh 2−x Pd x Si 2 solid solutions exist over the whole range of the dilution parameter x and all have the body-centred-tetragonal crystal structure of the ThCr 2 Si 2 type [2]. The magnetic properties of the parent compounds are quite different: HoRh 2 Si 2 is a collinear antiferromagnet of the AFI type [3].…”
