Magnetic mixed hemimicelle solid-phase extraction based on mixed hemi-/ad-micelle SDS-coated magnetic nanoparticles Fe2-xAlxO3 (x = 0.4) for the fluorimetric determination of carvedilol in biological samples

Abstract: Mixed hemi-/ad-micelle SDS-coated magnetic nanoparticles (Fe2-xAlxO3 (x = 0.4)) were used as an efficient adsorbent for the extraction and preconcentration of carvedilol (CVD) based on magnetic mixed hemimicelle solid-phase extraction. The Fe2-xAlxO3 magnetic nanoparticles not only have better stability and resistance to acidity, as well as alkalinity, but also are easy to prepare, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly. Several parameters that affected the extraction efficiency were investigated, including… Show more

“…The use of surfactants is an interesting approach in the functionalization of NPs, as these chemicals possess hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions, as well as different orientations, on their surface, which allows the sorbents to be adjusted based on the experimental conditions. Due to the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions of surfactants, the use of these positively or negatively charged structures with long hydrophobic chains can improve the adsorption of analytes onto the sorbent surface, thus providing higher extraction efficiencies compared to uncoated NPs [15,16].…”

“…Compared with traditional sorbents, magnetic nanoparticles possess strong superparamagnetism properties and large surface area which can provide high adsorption capability, rapid extraction and separation from the sample solution by applying a strong magnetic field in a batch system . So, in recent years, magnetic mixed hemimicelle SPE has been widely used for the extraction and preconcentration of various analytes, such as pharmaceuticals , bioactive constituents , herbicides , phenolic pollutants , and food colorants . However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the dispersive admicelle SPE based on SDS‐coated Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (NPs) for the adsorption of alkaloids.…”
