Magnetic-field-drivenx1/8anomaly of superconductivity inLa2xy

Abstract: Dependence of superconducting transition temperature T c (y) on an applied magnetic field B is investigated in La 2ϪxϪy Sr x Mn y CuO 4 with 0рyр0.05 and xϩyϭ0.15. A strong linear decrease of T c with increasing B is observed around the manganese concentration yϭ0.025, which correlates with the xϷ1/8 anomaly in La 1.875 Sr 0.125 CuO 4 . At this value of y the number of Mn 3ϩ pairs, the effective Bohr magneton number p eff , and the antiferromagnetic Curie temperature ⌰ attain their maxima, suggesting that loca… Show more

“…where α depends on the symmetry of the gap and on impurities [98], and in clean cases α = 1 or α = 1 2 in fully gapped superconductors and in superconductors with lines of nodes, respectively. More accurate treatments [99,100] do not change the qualitative result of a significant reduction of the superfluid density with the application of a magnetic field.…”
