Magic Angle Spinning NMR-Based Metabolic Profiling of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Tissues

Abstract: High-resolution magic-angle spinning (HR-MAS) proton NMR spectroscopy is used to explore the metabolic signatures of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) which included matched normal adjacent tissue (NAT) and tumor originating from tongue, lip, larynx and oral cavity, and associated lymph-node metastatic (LN-Met) tissues. A total of 43 tissues (18 NAT, 18 Tumor and 7 LN-Met) from twenty-two HNSCC patients were analyzed. Principal Component Analysis of NMR data showed a clear classification between NA… Show more

“…The elevation of creatine levels in the CSF of 7-day LC rats can be attributed to the changes in energy metabolism (34). A significant downregulation of creatine kinase has been reported in some cancers, such as oral squamous cell carcinoma, resulting in elevated levels of creatine (35).…”

“…The aqueous extract sample spectra contained signals of carbohydrate, amino acids and organic acids, which were identified and labeled in the spectra, mainly according to Chenomx Profiler 7.6 identification and data from the literature [7,23,29,30]. These spectra data are given in detail in Table 2 …”
