Luminescence spectra of nitrogen in solid argon. II. Theory

Abstract

A theoretical investigation of the X-ra,y stimulated spectra of N,/Ar has been made. The fine structure of the NJAr sideband is identified as the combined result of host-lattice vibrations, a n impurity induced local mode, and multiphonon processes. The width of the peaks is attributed to hindered rotations of the trapped molecule. The details of the matrix red shift are explained via Buckingham's formulation and the effects of hindered rotations.Eine theoretische Untersuchung der durch Rontgenstrahlen stimulierten Lumineszenzspektren von N,/Ar wird durchgefuhrt. Die Feinstruktur wird der Uberlagerung von Grundgitterschwingungen, einer durch Storstellen induzierten Lokalmode, und Multiphononprozessen zugeordnet. Die Breite der Unterbanden wird durch behinderte Rotationen des in der Argonmatrix eingelagerten Molekuls erkllrt. Die Rot-Verschiebung der Matrix wird mit der Methode nach Buckingham und der Beriicksichtigung behinderter Rotationen erkliirt.
