“…As shown elsewhere (e.g. Sanderson et al 2003;Kinnaird et al 2011;Muñoz-Salinas et al 2011), where more varied sediment types are profiled then correction might be of more significance. Given the IR data are generated as part of the Post IR OSL then seeing whether this is the case does not detract from the principle of rapid on site profiling.…”

“…Luminescence approaches, particularly those using the relatively easily bleached OSL component [1], offer the possibility of dating excavation events, because such excavation (or reexcavation) should 'bleach' the sediments at the excavated surface as it is dug. We report on the application of these OSL approaches here, providing an archaeological context for our preliminary report [35] and comparing the OSL results systematically with radiocarbon results that we report here. The OSL approach was broadly successful, but a major challenge for such luminescence-based approaches is sampling on the small scales necessary to identify (and to date) excavated surfaces.…”

In recent decades, multidisciplinary studies have proposed a more holistic approach to integrate climate change and paleodrainage pattern response affected by multiple drivers of varying spatial and temporal dominance and complexity (Knox, 1993, Ely et al 1993Gibbard and Lewin, 2002;Andres et al 2002;Goodbred, 2003.…”
