Abstract:A new type ofnon-perturbing electromagnetic power sensorfor microwaves and millimeter-waves, based on the thermooptical effect in a silicon interferometric etalon cavity, is presented. The incidentfieldpower is partially dissipated into the all-silicon metal-less etalon, constituting the sensing element of the detector, so causing its temperature increase. This, in turn, induces the intensity modulation of a probe laser beam reflected by the cavity after a multiple beam interference process. The sensing elemen… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
