Hypermature Intumescent Cataract in Advanced Keratoglobus

Abstract: We report a rare case of bilateral keratoglobus with hypermature intumescent cataract in a 55-year-old woman. Clinical examination and corneal topography confirmed generalized corneal bulging and global corneal thinning. A Pentacam® (Oculus Optikgerate, Wetzlar, Germany) demonstrated bilateral diffuse corneal thinning (368 μm in the right eye and 371 μm in the left eye). Phacoemulsification was performed in the right eye after thorough workup and modification of the surgical technique. This case report helps i… Show more

“…70 Recently, these principles even have been applied in an amplification in an enzyme-free visual immunoassay, again using the reaction of octadecylsilane. 71 A very interesting approach was reported by Morse and coworkers. 72 They used gold nanoparticles covered with thiols bearing functionalized end groups which mimic a hydrolytic enzyme active in biomineralization.…”

“…Currently, the color development stage of colorimetric systems has five potential routes for signal visualization to determine the bacteria contamination level. The first route is based on external pH change-induced pH indicator reactions [19][20][21][22][23]. In this route, visual signal readouts can yield a color change in pH indicators via external pH changes.…”

“…Its hydrolytic activity also increases the ionic strength of the solution and, thus, can serve as a signal amplifier. Urease has been widely used in colorimetric bacterial detection based on its catalytic activity [19][20][21]. In this route, the type of pH indicator is also important, which determines the sensitivity of the system.…”

“…The statistical modeling was performed on the commercially available software MINITAB 19. CCD was preferred over the other techniques as it has been reported in literature [ 43–46 ] that it provides a lesser number of experiments for more factors and even provides the second‐order effect and interaction effect between the factors. A set of 20 experiments were formed by the CCD technique and experiments were performed in the random order as shown in Table 3.…”
