A Novel Approach to Treatment of Conjunctival Cyst Ablation Using Atmospheric Low-Temperature Plasma

Abstract: Introducing a new technique to remove the conjunctival cyst using atmospheric low-temperature plasma (ALTP) and assessing its effectiveness. Patients and Methods: Five eyes with conjunctival cysts were included in this study. The procedure was started by applying a plasma spot on the highest point of the cyst, and then other spots were spirally applied to the base of the cyst to debulk it. The conjunctival cysts were removed using the white handpiece of the plasma generator device (Plexr, GMV s.r.l Grottaferra… Show more

“…With one-day, one-week, and oneto six-month follow-up, this study has demonstrated that patients' cysts have completely healed and no recurrence observed. (11) Using this method in punctal occlusion seems to be a temporary practical approach for treating dry eye disease. (13) In pinguecula treatment, the study showed that (PANIS method) is effective, and after six months of follow-up, no recurrence and complications were observed.…”

“…(8, 9) Also, the effectiveness of the PANIS method in treating Conjunctivochalasis, Dry eye disease, Pinguecula and Conjunctival Cyst has been shown in human studies. (10)(11)(12)(13) In this study, for the rst time, we intend to use this method to treat patients with conjunctival concretions and examine its possible side effects as a new method.…”

“…In ocular surface disorders, plasma-assisted noninvasive surgery (PANIS) has been used for Conjunctival cyst and conjunctivochalasis treatment so far. According to the results of these studies, the PANIS method is effective, safe, rapid, and affordable with a short recovery time [16,17] .…”
