<b>Morphology and anatomy of the seedling and the tirodendro of <i>Calophyllum brasiliense<i> Cambess. (Clusiaceae)

Abstract: Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess. is a tree species that is presented as an alternative to replace endangered species of hardwood. The morphology and anatomy of the seedling of this species is the object of the present study. Seedlings at different stages of development were obtained in greenhouse and analyzed fresh and fixed in FAA (Formalin-Acetic-Alcohol) 50. The anatomical analysis was done by the freehand and microtome sections, according to standard techniques in plant anatomy. The seedling and/or tiroden… Show more

“…Germination of seeds and seedling establishment are phases of the plant reproductive cycle of vital importance for the maintenance and regeneration of the species, and abiotic factors like temperature and light usually affect the germination process (Bosch, Tecco, Funes, & Cabido, 2012 Knowledge of seedlings requires special studies of all their stages of life and is important in weed control, forestry, silviculture, taxonomical studies and forest regeneration (Hzn, 1972, Vogel, 1980. Most of the works on seedlings describe their morphology, but there are some studies that treat of the anatomy of organs of seedlings of other families, as shown by Souza, Lopes, and Almeida (2007), Jesus et al (2014), Santos, Dariva, Müller, Almeida, and Souza (2014) and Lopes and Souza (2015). This hinders the understanding of the process of seedling establishment in a certain vegetation.…”

“…P. piscipula tiene semillas pequeñas (0.5 cm de largo), el cubrimiento de las charolas fue concordante con Dzib-Castillo (2012), quien a los 20 días reportó 95% de plántulas formadas. Los tipos de germinación registrados en este experimento concuerdan con otros estudios sobre estas especies, del mismo género o de la misma familia botánica (Das et al 2001, Machado et al 2002, de Jesus et al 2014, Rojas-Rodríguez y Torres-Córdoba 2016).…”
