<b>Morphogenesis in pastures with Tanzania grass fertilized with nitrogen doses under a grazing system

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The morphogenetic and structural characteristics, coupled to forage production of Tanzania grass with nitrogen (N) doses during the seasons of the year, at intermittent grazing, were analyzed. The experimental design consisted of a totally randomized block with split plots and four replications. The plots comprised 0, 150, 300 and 450 kg ha -1 N levels, whereas the sub-plots were the seasons. Urea was applied three times on the pasture and had a positive effect on the rates of leaf elongation and eme… Show more

“…Research with commercial cultivars Tanzania and Mombasa suggests that plant height of 70–90 cm generates a greater amount of biomass with an adequate recovery of grassland for the next grazing (Carvalho et al., 2017; Soares Filho et al., 2015). In our study, 97% of the collection had plant height >70 cm, and the correlations of plant height with biomass yield superior to .33 show that guineagrass under tropical edaphoclimatic conditions similar to those of the Patía Valley develops desirable agronomic characteristics for the production and maintenance of productive livestock grazing systems.…”

“…A adubação nitrogenada exerce grande influência nos padrões de alocação de biomassa aérea e radicular das forrageiras. Logo, a aplicação de nitrogênio é uma das formas rápidas de incrementar a produtividade dos pastos, principalmente quando a forrageira é responsiva á adubação, como é o caso da plantas de Panicum maximum (MArtuscello et al, 2009;MArtuscello et al, 2015b ;soAres Filho et al, 2015).…”

“…Studies with commercial varieties suggest that, at 70-to 90cm height, a higher quantity of biomass is generated with adequate grassland recovery for the next grazing (Soares Filho et al, 2015;Carvalho et al, 2017). In the rainy season, the entire collection reached the mínimum value of the range; whereas, in the dry season, this was obtained only by accessions 16,035,691,6,982,6,960,and 6,915 (Supplementary Material).…”
