Abstract: Spinal cord tumors are commonly accompanied by LUTS. Clinical and urodynamic evaluation is crucial to diagnosis and management since there is little relationship between symptoms and findings.

“…reported as many as 58% of the patients with conus tumors, having urinary symptoms and detrusor areflexia detected by urodynamics. [4] This was also evident in our patient and it helped to quantify the preoperative deficit and in prognosticating future sphincteric control. It is essential to predict the pathology before surgery in eloquent areas like the conus, so as to minimize neural tissue handling in cases of benign tumors, and to achieve maximal resection with least postoperative morbidity.…”

“…As a rule, the clinical history is marked by initial symptoms that may be nonspecific and are often underestimated (hypesthesia, paresthesia, and sensory deficits), 2,6,13,28,31,33,35,37 whereas in the second stage, the neurological pattern worsens swiftly (pain, sensory and motor disorders, paraplegia, tetraplegia, and sphincter disturbances). In our series we found 3 cases of CNS dissemination of the malignancy: 1 intramedullary and 2 intracerebral.…”

“…In addition, bladder and bowel dysfunction (61.9%) were also common. Uchiyama et al reported that 58% of patients with epiconus/conus medullaris tumors had voiding symptoms and especially, decreased urge to void, detrusor-sphinter dyssynergia and detrusor areflexia on voiding were the main symptom on urodynamic study 21) . Urinary symptoms may be the sole initial symptoms, but urinary A B C dysfunction tends to appear later.…”
