Low profile high gain circular SIW antenna for L and S band applications

Abstract: In this article, a circular substrate integrated waveguide (CSIW) antenna is proposed. Conventional log‐periodic antenna offers unidirectional and bidirectional radiation patterns that are used in two‐way communications provide moderate gain. The proposed antenna has the advantages of high gain, compact size, low loss, easy to integrate the high frequency components, and it also operates at L band and S band frequencies. To improve the gain and radiation characteristics, circular SIW is introduced and integrat… Show more

“…Later The SIW technique has been used for designing and fabrication filters and slot antennas [14,15,16,17]. low profile designs antenna are achieved by using SIW technique for high gain and wideband [18,19,20,21]. Impedance bandwidth was improved to up to 13.89% with moderate gain and unidirectional radiation characteristics in [22].…”

“…Its most common applications are filter design [8][9][10][11] and antenna design [12][13][14][15]. Different shapes of SIW cavities have been studied, such as rectangular [16][17][18], circular [19][20][21], and triangular [22][23][24]. Compared with rectangular and circular SIW cavities, triangular SIW cavities not only have similar characteristics, but also have more compact size.…”
