Low expression of long noncoding RNA CTC‐297N7.9 predicts poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract: Background Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are reported to play important roles in tumorigenesis of various malignant tumors. However, the clinical significance of aberrant lncRNA expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still elusive. Methods Firstly, a differentially expressed lncRNA CTC‐297N7.9 in HCC was detected by analyzing the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Secondly, the expression level of CTC‐297N7.9 was examined in four HCC cell lines and 60 pairs of HCC tissues by polymerase chain re… Show more

“…However, the 5-year survival rate of patients with HCC remains low due to the high rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis ( Allemani et al, 2015 ). Several studies have demonstrated that various aberrantly expressed genes can be used to determine HCC prognosis ( Chen et al, 2018b ; Feng et al, 2019 ; Yu et al, 2019 ; Zhu et al, 2019 ). For example, low expression of CTC-297N7.9 is associated with poor prognosis in HCC patients, and could be used as an independent prognostic indicator in HCC patients.…”

“…For example, low expression of CTC-297N7.9 is associated with poor prognosis in HCC patients, and could be used as an independent prognostic indicator in HCC patients. However, its diagnostic capability is limited in discriminating HCC tissues from normal tissues with an AUC of 0.74 ( Zhu et al, 2019 ). The knockdown of TMEM16A inhibited HCC cell proliferation, migration and induced cell apoptosis, and upregulation of TMEM16A induced HCC cell growth, migration and reduced cell apoptosis ( Zhang et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The role of lncRNAs in the regulation of cellular processes and cancerous progression is gaining attention (Chi et al, 2019;Lv and Huang, 2019). Zhu et al (2019) reported that the long noncoding RNA CTC-297N7.9 was downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma and predicted poor prognosis in these patients. LncRNA PCAT-1 was reported as a tumor suppressor in ovarian cancer, and silencing PCAT-1 caused suppression of proliferation, migration, and invasion and promotion of apoptosis (Min and Chu, 2019).…”

“…Currently, the pathogenesis of sepsis-induced myocardial damage remains unclear, and thus its treatment remains a challenge. Findings from previous studies indicate that various inflammatory and non-coding RNA are involved in sepsis-induced myocardial damage through modulation, and the latter has received increased research attention in recent years 6 , 7 .…”
