Low dielectric permittivity and high thermal stability composites based on crosslinkable poly (arylene ether nitrile) and hollow glass microsphere

Abstract: Crosslinkable poly (arylene ether nitrile)/hollow glass microsphere (PEN/HGM) composites with relative low dielectric permittivity and high thermal stability were prepared by a solution mixing and thermal compression method. For achieving this purpose, HGM were tight embedded in network, which were formed by crosslinking reaction of PEN end-capped with phthalonitrile. Compared to pure PEN, the dielectric constant of the resulting composite with 15 wt% of HGM reduced from 4.1 to 2.7 at 100 kHz, and the dielectr… Show more

“…Here, the dielectric properties of PPEBF‐Ph/QF and PB41/QF laminates were investigated in a waveguide cavity, and the results are presented in Figure . The laminates exhibited a dielectric constant of 2.94–3.27 and tan δ of 0.002–0.019 in an electromagnetic field at frequency ranging from 8 GHz to 18 GHz, values similar to that of many organic wave‐transparent materials that have been reported . The low polarizability of the CF/CH bonds and the absence of strong dipoles led to an obvious decrease of dielectric constant .…”

“…To compensate for the negative effects, a class of phthalonitrile terminated polyaryl ether nitrile has been attracting more attention recently. A series of novel phthalonitrile terminated polyaryl ether nitrile were reported . The lateral cyanide structure was considered as potential cross‐linkable groups to improve the thermal and mechanical performance of the resin.…”

“…Through the above steps, the SiO 2 /PEN‐ t ‐Ph composites with different mass fraction of nano‐SiO 2 (0.0, 4.0, 8.0, 12.0, 16.0, and 20.0 wt%) were obtained. Scheme shows the schematic linking formation of the SiO 2 /PEN‐ t ‐Ph nanocomposites, which is similar to that of the crosslinkable poly(arylene ether nitrile)/hollow glass microsphere (PEN/HGM) composites .…”
