La presente nota tiene como objetivo ofrecer un análisis etimológico, formal y semántico del lusismo léxico biombo en el español de México. La propuesta del origen del vocablo se sustenta en un estudio lexicográfico en la lengua española y portuguesa, en una propuesta de evolución interna, así como en fuentes históricas diversas. Mediante los corpus diacrónicos y las obras lexicográficas, se brinda un panorama que da cuenta del arraigo y difusión de biombo en la historia del español. Se ofrece una clasificación del vocablo a partir de Franco Trujillo (2016, 2019). Finalmente, se muestra el uso y significado de este vocablo en el español de México.
