“…However, several explanations can be made: (1) A single drilling destroys an average of 0.4 mL of stromal ovarian tissue 22 and eight drills result in a reduction of approximately 3.2 mL; (2) normalised ovarian function after drilling. 23 The possibility that this reduction in summed ovarian volume is due to either inter-or intra-observer variability is excluded because the same person (first author) performed the sonographic examination with the same machine at initial examination and at the three months follow up examination.…”

“…These patients were managed by ovarian drilling which also reduces the need of gonadotropin therapy and complications associated with it. 12 The next common laparoscopic finding in infertile women seen is endometriotic cyst. We report an incidence of 46 (13.81%) women requiring endometriotic cystectomy.…”

“…In a long-term follow-up study, Gjønnaess ascertained that ovulation still occurred in 23 out of 31 women (74%), 10 to 20 years after LOD 27 Amer et al concluded that LOD is associated with a sustained improvement in menstrual regularity and reproductive function in about one-third of cases and that the beneficial decrease in LH/ FSH ratio, LH and testosterone levels and the reduction in ovarian volume lasted up to nine years in most patients. 17,28 In a questionnaire based study of 168 women 8 to 12 years after being randomized to receive LOD or ovulation induction with gonadotrophins, 54% of the LOD-treated women had regular menstrual cycles and had an increased chance of having a second child. 29 Long-term follow-up of our cohort confirm that improvement in ovulation is sustained over time as demonstrated by the 52% of women that still had regular menstrual cycles after three to nine years.…”
