Long non‐coding RNA‐H19 promotes ovarian cancer cell proliferation and migration via the microRNA‐140/Wnt1 axis

Abstract: To explore the effect and underlying molecular mechanism of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)-H19 on ovarian cancer (OC) cells, a total of 41 cases of OC and adjacent normal tissues were collected. H19 and microRNA (miR)-140 expressions in OC tissues and cells were detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-RCR). The correlation between H19 expression and prognosis of OC patient was analyzed. siRNA (si)-H19 and si-negative control (NC) were transfected into OC cells. Cell proliferation was… Show more

“…57 To determine the role of H19 in ovarian cancer metastasis, different researchers manipulated H19 expression in epithelial ovarian cancer cells and then assessed the effects. In some of these studies, H19 overexpression was observed to promote the viability, proliferation, and invasion of ovarian cancer cells [58][59][60] by upregulating WNT1 through the downregulation of miR-140. 58 Consistently, H19 overexpression promoted ovarian cancer cell invasion by increasing the expression of TWIST1, SLUG, and SNAIL while reducing Ecadherin expression.…”

“…This pattern implies the pivotal role of lncRNA H19 in embryogenesis and fetal growth (27,28). Postnatal expression of lncRNA H19 diminishes significantly but maintains a residual level in select tissues, including breast, uterus, myocardium, skeletal muscle and the adrenal gland (29)(30)(31)(32)(33)(34). During tissue regeneration or tumorigenesis, lncRNA H19 function reactivates, participating in damage regulation and repair, or acting as either a tumor suppressor gene or an oncogene (35,36).…”

“…Depletion of LINC00649 inhibits YAP1 and releases miR-16-5p, leading to the recovery of the Hippo pathway, and some downstream oncogenes are suppressed accordingly, such as EGFR, SOX2, and OCT4, suppressing the malignant phenotypes in GC cells ( Wang H. et al, 2021 ). YAP1 has been identified as an oncogene, which can promote the pathogenesis of multiple cancers and immunosuppression ( He S. et al, 2021 ; Wang and Gao, 2021 ). LncRNA metastasis associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) promotes cell proliferation and invasion in GC, and its up-regulation is associated with local invasion, lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage.…”
