Long non‑coding RNA OIP5‑AS1 contributes to cisplatin resistance of oral squamous cell carcinoma through the miR‑27b‑3p/TRIM14 axis

Abstract: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for 90% of oral cavity cancer types, but the overall prognosis for patients with OSCC remains unfavorable. Cisplatin (DDP) is an effective drug in OSCC treatment, but DDP resistance weakens its therapeutic effect. Opa-interacting protein 5 antisense RNA 1 (OIP5-AS1) can trigger DDP resistance. The purpose of the current study was to explore the role and mechanism ofOIP5-AS1 in OSCC DDP resistance. In the present study, the expression levels of OIP5-AS1, microRNA (mi… Show more

“…Therefore, it is of importance to investigate diagnostic strategies and find therapeutic targets to improve the treatment of OSCC. Cisplatin (DDP) is an effective first-line chemotherapy drug for OSCC treatment, while its therapeutic effect often fails as a result of the drug resistance [ 3 ]. Tumor cells can take up more glucose, and glucose undergo aerobic glycolytic synthesis to generate more intermediate substances and eventually to generate lactic acid.…”

“…reported that OIP5-AS1 increased cisplatin resistance via binding with miR-340-5p and upregulating LPAATβ and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in osteosarcoma ( 44 ). Similarly, OIP5-AS1 promoted cisplatin resistance via regulating miR-27b-3p/TRIM14 axis in oral squamous cell carcinoma ( 45 ). Liang et al.…”

“…RT-qPCR reactions were performed in a total volume of 10 µl, including 2.5 µl cDNA, 5 µl SYBR Premix, 0.25 µl each of paired primers, and 2 µl ddH 2 O [22]. LINC01128 was normalized by glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), and miR-27b-3p was normalized by U6 [32]. Expression levels of LINC01128 and miR-27b-3p were calculated by 2 -ΔΔCt method.…”
