Location Decision Making and Transportation Route Planning Considering Fuel Consumption

Abstract: This study presents the Location Routing Problem (LRP) for which we have created a model for the integration of locating facilities and vehicle routing decisions to solve the problem. The case study is the Palm Oil Collection Center, which is also important for the supply chain system. A mathematical model was made to minimize the total cost of a facility-opening cost, fixed cost of vehicle uses and fuel consumption cost. The fuel consumption cost relies on the distance and road conditions, in case of poor phy… Show more

“…The results illustrated the effectiveness of both the location and routing management. Theeraviriya et al, 2019 [39] used an ALNS method for solving a LRP while considering fuel consumption for different road categories. The proposed ALNS method provided the best location and route planning with the lowest fuel used, where the results were competitive compared to another method of a previous study.…”

“…LRP is an NP-hard problem [7,35], and a PSO algorithm combining Tabu Search (TS) is introduced to solve the model in this paper on account of the simplicity and flexibility of PSO algorithm and the ability of TS to obtain global optimal solutions. In the first stage, PSO algorithm is applied to obtain the partial optimization solution.…”

“…In actual life, LAP and VRP are highly correlated, of which the combination is called location routing problems (LRP). However, when distributing relief supplies, the vehicles emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide, which will exacerbate climate change [7]. The deterioration of the environment is one of the considerable causes of frequent natural disasters.…”

“…For example, Praseeratasan et al [41] proposed the adaptive large neighborhood search (ALNS) algorithm to solve real-world multilevel scheduling and assignment problems, in which ALNS is modified to solve the problem of a broiler farm. Theeraviriya et al [42] proposed the differential evolution (DE) algorithm to solve the location and routing problem; the innovation proposed in that study is that while considering the location and routing problem, fuel consumption is taken into account and DE is proposed to solve a special case of the generalized assignment problem [43]. Praseeratasan et al [44] proposed ALNS to solve a real-world production planning problem.…”
