The main function of the fin stabilizer on patrol boats is anti-rolling and providing comfort for ship personnel. However, the installation of the fin stabilizer has a consequence in the form of appendage resistance of the ship. This study analyzes the magnitude of the appendage resistance due to the installation of the NACA 0010 stabilizer fin mounted on a 60m patrol boat at an angle of 0º. Reduction of ship resistance is expected to improve the ship performance which then can optimize the use of fuels and minimize pollution. In the early stages, the bare hull was validated with the results of the model test on the towing tank with a resistance difference of less than 3%. Based on the simulation results, it is known that the average resistance value of Fine Marine Numeca is 1.87% higher than the resistance value of the Maxsurf software. From the results of testing the appendage resistance value with 3 variations of the shape of the NACA 0010 fin, it is known that the appendage resistance value of fin stabilizer 2 is 1.04%, fin stabilizer 1 is 1.26% while fin stabilizer 3 is 1.6%. The appendage resistance of fin stabilizer 2 is smaller than the variation of fin stabilizer 1 and 3 models.

The design of the 18 Meter Stealth Fast Attack Vehicle (SFAV) with Maxsurf software and the Savitsky method as a coastal patrol vessel is a fast ship that has stealth capabilities that can be used as a coastal patrol vessel area 12 NM to supervise fishing vessels so that fishing and marine resources do not damage the environment such as the use of tiger trawls and marine bombs. The ship model resistance and stability are analyzed using the numerical software Maxsurf Modeller Advanced V8i. Lines plan and general arrangement using AutoCAD software. Model analysis, the design of the SFAV Interceptor Vehicle uses the spiral design method, while the prediction of the resistance value uses the Savitsky preplanning and planning methods. Ship stability uses standardized values issued by IMO, which can be applied to the Maxsurf Stability Advanced V8i software. The analysis results of resistance prediction software and numerical successively 43.416 kN, 45.526 kN, with a difference of 4.6%. The stability analysis is predicted using heel angle model analysis on Maxsurf stability software in various conditions. The results meet IMO standards and capable of sea stage 4. The existence of SFAV ships will help security patrols to protect the coastal area.

In view of the safety problems caused by the pitch stability of the offshore waste collection platform, the three-dimensional model of the collection platform hull was established by SolidWorks software, and the influence of the installation parameters of NACA fin stabilizers on the pitch stability of the collection platform hull was discussed based on three-dimensional potential flow theory. The results show that the installation parameters of NACA fin stabilizers have an essential influence on the pitch stability of the collection platform hull. The larger the positive installation angle and the farther away the bow fin is from the midship, the smaller the peak values of pitch motion response. While the tail fin is not suitable to be installed near 600 mm of midship to avoid severe longitudinal movement of the hull.
