Localized surface plasmon resonance-based abscisic acid biosensor using aptamer-functionalized gold nanoparticles

Abstract: Abscisic acid (ABA) plays an important role in abiotic stress response and physiological signal transduction resisting to the adverse environment. Therefore, it is very essential for the quantitative detection of abscisic acid (ABA) due to its indispensable role in plant physiological activities. Herein, a new detection method based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) using aptamer-functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is developed without using expensive instrument and antibody. In the presence … Show more

“…This property has been exploited to produce biosensor devices, as the binding of biomolecules to the GNP's surface leads to changes in the LSPR peak, which are easily measured. 9,10 Many colorimetric assays, for chemical and biological sensing applications, have been developed based on, for example, aggregation, etching, growth and nanozymes. 11 For example, a colorimetric assay using glyco-GNPs have been reported for the detection of lectins, cholera toxin and influenza viruses.…”

“…A linear correlation coefficient of 0.97 and a limit of detection (LOD) of 5.5 nM was obtained from the measurement results of Ch1, Ch2, which was determined by the formula 3σ/slope, where σ is the standard deviation of blank, i.e. the absorbance of pure AuNPs and slope can be obtained from the linear calibration curve [ 31 ] (the inset Fig 4a and inset Fig 5a ). From these experiment results, there are certain systematic errors existed in both channels.…”

“…Certain other chemical entities that directly impact food quality are hormones and nucleic acid. Abscisic acid (ABA), a ubiquitous phytohormone, has been colorimetrically determined by an AuNPs/aptamer system (Wang, Li, et al, 2017). In this, the aptamer is well-dispersed in synthesized colloidal AuNPs and only physically attached to AuNPs, preventing aggregation of AuNPs due to electrostatic repulsion.…”
