LncRNAs expression profiling in normal ovary, benign ovarian cyst and malignant epithelial ovarian cancer

Abstract: Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) has been recognized as a regulator of gene expression, and the dysregulation of lncRNAs is involved in the progression of many types of cancer, including epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). To explore the potential roles of lncRNAs in EOC, we performed lncRNA and mRNA microarray profiling in malignant EOC, benign ovarian cyst and healthy control tissues. In this study, 663 transcripts of lncRNAs were found to be differentially expressed in malignant EOC compared with benign and normal … Show more

“…Recent studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), a class of noncoding RNA transcripts of 200 nucleotides in length, can distinguish markedly between ovarian carcinoma tissue and corresponding normal tissue. 3 LncRNAs frequently function as tumor suppressors or oncogenes. For example, a low level of lncRNA GAS5 produced a poorer overall survival rate against ovarian cancer.…”

“…Abnormal expression of lncRNAs is involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases. In recent years, many studies have used microarray technology to screen for differentially expressed lncRNAs in the occurrence of disease . Exploring the mechanism of disease regulation or new mechanisms have become common practice.…”

“…A previous study observed 663 dysregulated lncRNAs in EOC patients compared to benign or normal controls determined by Arraystar Human lncRNA Microarray V3.0 . Another recent study detected lncRNAs expression profiles in 5 paired human EOC tissues and adjacent non‐tumor tissue samples by Arraystar Human LncRNA Microarray V3.0, and discovered 672 up‐regulated and 549 down‐regulated lncRNAs in EOC tissue .…”
