lncRNA AWPPH promotes proliferation and inhibits apoptosis of non‑small cell lung cancer cells by activating the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway

Abstract: AWPPH is a newly discovered long non-coding (lnc)RNA that serves an oncogenic role in the development of several types of cancer; however, its involvement in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is unknown. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the function of AWPPH in NSCLC. The results demonstrated that AWPPH expression levels were significantly upregulated in the lung tissues and serum samples of patients with NSCLC compared with in healthy controls. High expression levels of AWPPH effect… Show more

“…Plenty of evidence highlighted that lncRNAs exerted essential roles in various human cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma [38], non-small cell lung cancer [39], and epithelial ovarian cancer [40]. It has been testified that lncRNA TMPO-AS1 was an oncogene in prostate cancer [11].…”

“…Long-noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) was closely related with the development of multiple cancers, such as bladder cancer [3], gastric cancer [4], ovarian cancer [5] and NSCLC [6]. For example, lncRNA LINC-PINT inhibited NSCLC progression by targeting miR-218-5p/PDCD4 [6] and LncRNA AWPPH promoted NSCLC cell proliferation by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway [7]. LncRNA-XIST served as an oncogene in various cancers [8, 9] and promoted NSCLC development [1012].…”

“… 20 For instance, the expression of lncRNA TP73-AS1 was significantly elevated in NSCLC that predicted shorter survival time in patients 21 ; lncRNA AWPPH can facilitate the proliferation of NSCLC cells and suppress the apoptosis. 22 Moreover, lncRNA is also involved in the regulation of radiosensitivity of tumor cells. For instance, lncRNA PVT1 induces radioresistance in NSCLC cells 23 ; high expression of lncRNA GACAT3 can impede metastasis of cancer cells and improve the effect of radiotherapy.…”
