LMP1 and LMP2A are potential prognostic markers of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL)

Abstract: BackgroundLatent membrane protein (LMP) 1 and LMP2A encoded by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) are associated with the development of malignancies, but their expression in extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL) and the relationship with clinical characteristics of this disease remain poorly understood. In the present study, we examined the expression of LMP1 and LMP2A in ENKTL, and investigated the correlations between LMP1 and LMP2A expression with clinicopathological characteristics of ENKTL patients.Met… Show more

“…Negative controls were included by the replacement of the primary antibody with PBS. The results were analyzed according to the IHC score (IHS) as described previously . Briefly, IHS was determined by the evaluation of both staining density and intensity.…”

“…It has been proposed that EBV-encoded RNA promotes the proliferation and transformation of T-cells [10,11]. An association between EBV and Original paper evaluatiOn Of the rOle Of epstein-Barr virus in cases Of nOdal Or extranOdal t-and nK-cell lymphOma using eBer in situ hyBridizatiOn nasal NK/T-cell lymphomas has been demonstrated [5,[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. Recent studies on various other subtypes of T-and NK-cell lymphomas, such as peripheral T-cell lymphoma, unspecified (PTCL, NOS) [18,19], angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITCL) [20], enteropathy type T-cell lymphoma (ETTCL) [21,22], and hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HST-CL) [23], have also reported a possible role for EBV as an aetiopathogenetic factor.…”

“…The fact that exosomes are abundantly expressed in patient serum and saliva further support the potential of using the oncoprotein-enriched exosomes for cancer diagnostics [3][4][5]. Similarly, Mao and co-workers also highlighted the potential of LMP1 and LMP2A as the prognostic markers for extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) patients [55]. LMP1 and LMP2A were overexpressed in ENKTL tumours and they significantly correlated with the patients' overall survival.…”
