Literature Review of the Recent Trends and Applications in Various Fuzzy Rule-Based Systems

Abstract: Fuzzy rule-based systems (FRBSs) is a rule-based system which uses linguistic fuzzy variables as antecedents and consequent to represent human-understandable knowledge. They have been applied to various applications and areas throughout the soft computing literature. However, FRBSs suffers from many drawbacks such as uncertainty representation, high number of rules, interpretability loss, high computational time for learning. To overcome these issues with FRBSs, there exists many extensions of FRBSs. This pape… Show more

“…A rule base refers to a collection of decision-making logics that aim to replicate the cognitive process of human judgment-making (Varshney, 2023). The rule base is constructed by utilizing the inputs and their related outputs, specifically determining the desired outputs for a given set of inputs (Tripathy et al, 2022).…”

“…2.2 Fuzzy concepts and applications 2.2.1 Fuzzy logic and fuzzy numbers. The fuzzy logic was developed considering mathematical representations that involve uncertainty and imprecision (Guillaume, 2001), as it resembles human reasoning, using information to generate approximate decisions (Varshney and Torra, 2023). It is a tool that models uncertainties and facilitates reasoning for Process risk analysis in aeronautical sector decision-making when complete and precise information is lacking (Bakhtavar et al, 2021;Serrano-Guerrero et al, 2021).…”
