Introduction: Chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) and its treatment cause restrictions and damages to the physical, mental, functional and social health of the affected users. The attention developed by Occupational Therapy with this population from the perspective of integral care during the period of hospitalization contributes to improve the setting, qualification of hospitalization time, functional recovery and emotional support. Objective: To identify and analyze the contributions of Occupational Therapy in health care of users with CRI in hospital context. Method: Qualitative study of descriptive type that used documentary analysis of the occupational therapy reports referring to the appointments made by this professional from April 2015 to April 2018. Results: 42 occupational therapy reports were analyzed, the majority of users were male, aged 60 or over and with some degree of functional dependence. The interventions of the Occupational Therapy were categorized in four main themes: initial contact and reception of the needs; support for resignification of the health-disease process; assistance to adapt to the new health condition and preparation for hospital discharge and the new routine of care. Conclusion: The Occupational Therapy allowed that aspects of patients' life altered by the CRI, hospitalization and changes in lifestyle due to the disease, were approached through different therapeutic techniques aimed at the reception of needs, stimulation of functional capacity, promotion of independence, (re) organization of daily life and insertion into the service network.

Chronic kidney disease and hemodialysis bring to the patient limitations, which affect the quality of life. The study aimed to describe the results on quality of life after occupational therapy intervention with patients on hemodialysis in a renal replacement therapy sector in Belém/PA and to categorize the activities of the occupational therapy program. The study is observational, transverse, descriptive, analytical, type of case series. The WHOQOL-Bref with 15 participants was used to evaluate the quality of life, and to guide the individual therapeutic plan, a list of Occupational Role Identification was applied. The first instrument measures the quality of life in four domains, the physical, the environmental, the psychological and the social. The second instrument assesses the performance of occupational roles over time. The WHOQOL-bref was applied at the beginning and after the interventions. A biostatistical analysis was carried out using the software BioEstat version 5.3. As a result, there was an increase in the self-rated quality of life of 7.2% in the environmental domain, 12.8% in the social area, 10.1% in the psychological and 12.5% in the physical, highlighting significant improvements in all The domains, demonstrating the importance of the Occupational Therapist approach to the patient undergoing hemodialysis.

Objetivo: descrever os papéis ocupacionais de pessoas que vivem com HIV, e sua percepção sobre preconceito sofrido e auto-preconceito. Método: estudo quanti-qualitativo, exploratório, descritivo e transversal, com pessoas que viviam com HIV há pelo menos seis meses, internados em uma unidade para tratamento de doenças infecto-parasitárias entre abril e junho/2018. Utilizou-se a Lista de Identificação de Papéis Ocupacionais e interpretou-se pela estatística descritiva e análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: participaram cinco homens e duas mulheres, com média de idade de 40 anos; o tempo médio em que viviam com HIV de 13,14 anos; religião de base cristã ou acreditava em Deus; tendo profissão com trabalho remunerado; infectados ainda na juventude. Nos papéis ocupacionais, todos foram Estudantes no passado, e 43% ainda pretendiam retomar. O mesmo desempenho de papéis ocorreu em todos nos Serviço Doméstico no passado e, para Membro de Família, no presente e no geral, verificou-se redução dos papéis ocupacionais em relação ao passado. Elaborou-se três categorias temáticas: Preconceitos; Sentimentos Negativos; e Convívio com o HIV e apoio social. Conclusão: o HIV gerou preconceitos e impactos negativos nos papéis ocupacionais.
