Liquid-type AgInS2/ZnS quantum dot-based warm white light-emitting diodes

Abstract: We here report a warm white light-emitting diode (WLED) by employing the red-emitting liquid layer of AgInS2/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) over the yellow-emitting YAG:Ce phosphor-based WLEDs. Compared to the commercial WLEDs, our liquid-type QD-WLEDs exhibit a color temperature of 3500K and an improved color rendering index of 85. In addition, the experimental results indicate that the liquid structure warm white light device has a higher luminous efficiency of 72.1 lm/W and a better color stability against the exte… Show more

“…As a typical example, effective heat dissipation from a white light‐emitting plate by use of a graphene coating helped the WLED to achieve long‐term reliability in emission color characteristics even at high power operating conditions . Packaging of QDs for fabricating WLED color converters can be made in solid and liquid phases . QDs can be more readily dispersed in a liquid, rather than a solid, matrix .…”

“…Although photopolymers have the potential to be a suitable interface material for MPS devices with the abovementioned properties, there are no MPS device studies, except for one example using NOA61 photopolymer material, recently published by the authors [16]. The UV curable NOA60 material of Norland Optics, which is preferred in applications related to optical elements due to its high light transmission and colorless [17], has been successfully used in applications such as a filter for imaging [18], microlens arrays [19,20], polymer nanoimprinting [21], WLED [22] and biochip [23].…”
