Liquid–Liquid Equilibrium for Ternary Systems of Water + 2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1-propanol + Anisole/1-Octanol at 298.2, 308.2, and 318.2 K

Abstract: Liquid−liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for ternary systems of water + 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol + anisole/1-octanol were determined at temperatures of 298.2, 308.2, and 318.2 K under 101.3 kPa. The distribution coefficients and separation factors were calculated from experimental LLE data, which indicated that anisole/1-octanol extracted 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol from aqueous solution with high efficiency. The consistency of the experimental LLE data was assessed by the Othmer−Tobias and Hand equations… Show more

“…When the cation of the ILs was imidazole, the length increase of the cationic alkyl chain can improve the extraction effect. In Table 4, the values of S for ZIF‐8‐PIL and IL are compared with those of other organic solvents, such as alcohol, ether, esters and ketone 5,20,43‐45 . As is obvious, ZIF‐8‐PIL has great potential for extracting TFP, although the values of S for PIL are smaller than that of some organic solvents.…”

“…determined the liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) behavior for the mixture (water + TFP + tert ‐butyl methyl ether/isopropyl ether). Jia et al 20 . investigated the two ternary systems (water + TFP + 1‐octanol/anisole).…”

“…The specific information about uncertainty is provided in the Supporting Information. Generally, the UNIQUAC model and NRTL model are used to regress the LLE data to obtain the binary interaction parameters. After comparison, it was found that the UNIQUAC model had higher accuracy of regression, so in this article, the UNIQUAC model was used to regress the LLE data to acquire the binary interaction parameters. The activity coefficient in the UNIQUAC model is expressed as follows θ i and φ i represent the volume fraction and surface area fraction, respectively.…”

“…Wang et al 16 used novel hollow fiber membranes for dehydrating TFP with good selectivity and relatively high permeation flux. Meanwhile, liquid-liquid extraction was used to separate the mixture of TFP and water by Xu et al 17 and Li et al 18,19 Combining the advantages of extraction and distillation, Shen and Chien 20 provided a hybrid extraction-distillation flowsheet for separating TFP and water with energy savings. Recently, ionic liquids (ILs) as green solvents have been applied as entrainers to replace traditional organic solvents in extractive distillation [21][22][23][24][25][26] because of their negligible vapor pressure, high selectivity, and low toxicity.…”
