Liporecycling: A Technique for Facial Rejuvenation and Body Contouring

Abstract: Advantages of the described method include easy harvesting during conventional machine-assisted liposuction, the possibility of removing undesired bands of fibrous tissue from the graft, and easy passage through a 24-gauge needle. Thus sub- and intradermal augmentation is possible with the same material and syringe.

“…Large grafts exhibit higher rates of liquefaction, necrosis, and cyst formation, while too small a graft volume is associated with resorption [75], [79]. To ensure maximal take, many surgeons practice repeated transfers [3], [79], [80], [81].

“…Large grafts exhibit higher rates of liquefaction, necrosis, and cyst formation, while very small grafts tend to be reabsorbed [47], [55]. To ensure maximal take, many surgeons perform repeated transfers [47], [56], [57], [58]. In breast reconstruction surgery, fat transplantation can be used not only to fill atrophic scars but also to reduce scar contracture as a regenerative alternative to other surgical techniques [59].…”

“…The procedure consists of fat transfer via liposuction and infiltration or implantation into the desired region. It is used in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery for facial and body contouring [11,13], but also in other specialties [14,15]. …”
