Lipid Profile During Azathioprine or Mycophenolate Mofetil Combinations With Cyclosporine and Steroids

Lipid abnormalities are a common complication of kidney transplantation, occurring in up to 60% of patients. In fact, impairment of lipid metabolism is often present before renal transplantation due to the uremic state. After transplantation and recovery of renal function, lipid disturbances usually persist but show a different profile due to the various effects of immunosuppressive drugs on lipid metabolism. Actually, steroids, calcineurin inhibitors, and mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors usually lead to quantitative and qualitative abnormalities of very low-density, low-density, and high-density lipoproteins. As cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in renal transplant recipients, management of dyslipidemia and other traditional risk factors, such as smoking, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity, is of great importance to prevent cardiovascular complications and chronic allograft dysfunction. This review addresses the causes of dyslipidemia, the role of immunosuppressive drugs, and current recommendations to manage lipid disorders in renal transplant recipients.

Cardiology and Nephrology specialties share several elements in the prevention of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD). CVD prevention in patients with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) can only really be understood if there are more robust collaborative clinical trials, and social sciences health research between nephrology and cardiology, not only to inform healthcare and best practices, but also to inform healthcare innovation. More than 80% of renal patients have one or more cardiovascular risk factors. Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) and social science research informs that compromised cardiac health is a key source of demise in patients. The aim here is to highlight the need for more robust collaborations between Nephrology, Cardiology and Therapeutic clinical trials, to preclude CVD complications in renal patients. Chemokine receptors are expressed on cell populations, permitting different chemokine to have selective activity. Chemokine are primarily involved in attraction of leukocytes. CVD intervention takes many forms but begins at acknowledging a need for more targeted therapeutics. Haemodialysis aggravates patient prognosis and myocardial function. Health awareness and education is still a much-needed resource for renal patients; more awareness and comprehension of CVD implemented as part of a patient's health plan. Now more than ever there needs to be a closer link between clinical trials between the two medical specialties, and social sciences to inform how best to prevent patients with CKD developing CVD events.

Background: Depression is a common psychosocial problem that negatively affects the lives and relationships of school-age children, adolescents, and adults both in private and public. Purpose: To explore the psychosocial well-being among Jordanian schoolage children and adolescents who are complaining of end stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis. Method and Design: The study was carried out using a descriptive crosssectional correlation design. A convenient sample of 121 school-age children and adolescent were recruited from seven major dialysis units in Jordan . The children's psychosocial well-being was measured by using a self-report questionnaire. This, however, includes demographic data, adherence to treatment, Dialysis Patient-Perceived Exercise Benefits, and Barriers Scale. Also, Pediatrics Quality of Life PedsQL 3.0 ESRD and Depression Scale for Children were used for data collection
