Ligational behavior of new mononucleating NOO ethyl pyruvate Schiff base towards 3d metal(II) ions: an emphasis on antiproliferative and photocleavage property

Abstract: A series of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes of a tridentate hydrazone were prepared and characterized by various spectro‐analytical techniques and magnetic moment studies. The complexes were found to be monomeric and non‐electrolytes. The copper complex is electrochemically active in the applied potential range. The compounds synthesized in the present study have shown promising antiproliferative activity when screened using the in vitro method against two human cancer cell lines: HeLa and HepG2. … Show more

“…Some new bands apper in the spectra of the complexes which include of the stretching vibrations of ‫ט‬ (M-N) and ‫ט‬ (M _ O ). These bands apper in the ranges (417-463) cm -1 and (491 -553) cm -1 respectively (Pathan et al, 2012). The I.R Spectra of ligands and Mn(II), Cu(II) have been shown Fig.…”

“…The solution of DNA and desired compounds were kept to equilibrate at 25 °C for 20 min, after which absorption readings were noted. The data were then fit to following equation ( ) to obtain intrinsic binding constant Kb [],DNAtrue/[],εaεf=[],DNAtrue/[],εbεf+1true/Kb[],εbεf …”

“…Flow time of solutions in phosphate buffer was recorded in triplicate and an average flow time was calculated. Data was presented as (η/η 0 ) 1/3 versus binding ratio, where η is the viscosity of CT‐DNA in the presence of complex and η 0 is the viscosity of DNA alone …”

“…The magnetic moment values of Co(II) complexes (1,8) are found to be (2.89,2.15)B.M respectively indicating square-planar (Bailar andVraban,1973). Their electronic spectra show absorption band at (16528,16728) cm -1 respectively, attributed to the 2 A 1 g→ 2 E′g transition, indicating a square-planer geometry for Co(II) complexes (Ahmed et al, 2009),while the magnetic moment of Co(II) complexes (5,12) equal(4.91, 4.96) B.M indicating octahedral geometry (Pathan et al, 2012) and the electronic spectra of these complexes showed d-d transitions at (15151 ,15251)cm -1 ,(20000 and 20618)cm -1 assignable to 4 T 1 g(F)→ 4 A 2 p(F) and 4 T 1 g(F)→ 4 T 1 g(p) respectively indicating octahedral geometry around Co(II) ions (Matrtell, 1971). The Ni(II) complexes (2,9) are diamagnetic moiety because its magnetic moment is almost zero.…”
