Fossil fuel depletion, along with its ever-increasing price and detrimental impact on the environment, has urged researchers to look for alternative renewable energy. Of all the options available, biomass presents a very reliable source due to its never-ending supply. As research on various biomasses has grown in recent years, waste from these biomasses has also increased, and it is now time to shift the focus to utilizing these wastes for energy. The current waste management system mainly focuses on open burning and soil incorporation as it is cost-effective; however, these affect the environment. There must be an alternative way, such as to use it for power generation. Rice straw and rice husk are examples of such potential biomass waste. Rice is the main food source for the world, mostly in Asian regions, as most people consume rice daily. This paper reviews factors that impact the implementation of rice-straw-based power plants. Ash content and moisture content are important properties that govern combustion, and these vary with location. Logistical improvements are required to reduce the transport cost of rice husk and rice straw, which is higher than the transportation cost of coal.

Trấu là lớp vỏ ngoài của hạt lúa và được tách ra trong quá trình xay xát và được xem là nguồn nhiên liệu được sử dụng phổ biến để nấu ăn tại các vùng nông thôn. Trấu không phát sinh liên tục mà tập trung cao điểm vào các vụ thu hoạch lúa. Chính vì vậy, lượng trấu dư thừa trở thành nguồn rác thải phải xử lý. Hiện nay phương pháp phổ biến để xử lý trấu vẫn là đốt đống. Quá trình này sản sinh ra bụi và các chất thải góp phần gây ô nhiễm môi trường và tác động đến sức khoẻ con người. Với mục tiêu xây dựng hệ số phát thải của các chất thải từ hoạt động đốt trấu, phục vụ cho công tác kiểm kê, đánh giá mức độ phát thải, thí nghiệm mô phỏng hoạt động đốt hở trấu đã được thực hiện trong quy mô phòng thí nghiệm. Nghiên cứu đã sử dụng hệ thống tháp đốt và tiến hành đo đạc nồng độ các chất khí ô nhiễm dựa trên các giai đoạn thường xảy ra trong quá trình đốt trấu bao gồm đánh lửa, cháy âm ỉ và suy tàn. Trong suốt quá trình thực hiện thí nghiệm, máy Testo 350-XL được dùng để đo CO2, CO, NO, NO2 và Sibata Model GT-331 được dùng để xác định hàm lượng bụi phát sinh theo các giai đoạn khác nhau của quá trình đốt. Dựa vào nồng độ phát thải, hệ số phát thải của các chất CO, CO2, NO2, SO2 và TSP đã được tính toán. Kết quả lần lượt là 113,84–120,66 g/kg; 908,715–936,562 g/kg; 0,0125–0,014 g/kg; 0,038–0,118 g/kg và 1,818–2,435 g/kg. Hệ số phát thải này là cơ sở để so sánh mức độ phát thải giữa việc thải bỏ trấu bằng phương pháp đốt với các phương pháp chuyển trấu thành năng lượng khác nhau phục vụ cho việc ra quyết định nhằm tăng tỷ lệ sử dụng trấu tại địa phương. A transition for a green economy has encouraged companies to use new tools which promote internal corporate entrepreneurship, increase the competitiveness and achieve sustainable results. This article presented a theoretical discussion of how the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) can presents as an entrepreneurial tool for modern business management and green innovation. Studies of LCA were analyzed showing benefits and applications in the areas of strategic planning, production, process of development of products, search and development, social and environmental responsibility, and marketing. As for green innovations, there were analyzed studies of innovations in products, processes and services. The tool assists in making sustainable decisions, fortifies the management of the business processes, the management of operations and the promotion of greener innovations
