Level of speed abilities of young football players in various training periods

Abstract: Purpose: At the highest level of the competition, the players tend to have a comprehensive motor, technical-tactical and mental preparation. It is assumed that in the training process of young players, speed is an important factor determining sports success. Therefore, the aim of the study was to try to compare the speed abilities indicator of young footballers during the summer and winter preparatory period. Material and methods: The research was conducted in July 2019 and January 2020 in Poznań. The re… Show more

“…An increase was noted in running speed indices (progress rate = 0.1 sec), aerobic endurance (progress rate = 0.23 sec) and abdominal muscle strength (progress rate = 11.75 repetitions), while the leg muscle strength, although slightly increased (progress rate = 0.12 cm), did not record statistically significant differences between the two tests. These results confirm the findings of other studies conducted with adolescents, which emphasise an improvement in the strength of the upper and lower limbs, speed, flexibility, power and agility through training programmes adapted to the participants" biomotor characteristics (Christou et al, 2006;Kalinowski et al, 2021).…”

“…The higher is the level of development of physical qualities, the more abilities for perfect mastering of the technique and its realization exist. The higher is the technique, the better physical and other qualities are realized [8,9,28,29]. Our above revealed positions and movements of kinematic links correspond to the structure of competitive activity of professional football players and everyday human activity.…”

“…In the experimental researchers, a scientific problem with elements of scientific novelty was raised: added data on the training of qualified football players (Hoff, 2005;Kaczorowska, et al, 2022), testing of their special physical performance indicators using instrumental methods: PWC 170 and VO 2 max (Kokareva et al, 2018;Lisenchuk et al, 2019). Problematic issues concerning the adequacy of determining the indicators of special preparedness among young football players based on taking into account the age-related features of the development of their bodies have gained further development (Chau, 2021;Hanapiah et al, 2020;Kalinowski et al, 2021).…”

“…This problem is actualized in the context of the age-related development of athletes' bodies, psychophysiological features, gender differences, etc. (Chau, 2021;Hanapiah et al, 2020;Kalinowski et al, 2021). The accounting of this complex of issues allows us to state that the scientific problems related to the physical performance of qualified football players remain relevant and timely, and the implementation of the results of experimental studies will allow to increase the effectiveness of competitive activities (Hoff, 2005;Kapelman, Kızılet & Bozdogan, 2022).…”
