Abstract

Heraclitos of Ephesos’s idea on politics have always been neglected. However, when bringing a certain number of fragments together, one can distinctly define is hierarchical conception of an ideal and lasting city. 1° A political leader single handely guided by moderation. 2° The philosopher, highly contemplating Unity. 3° Some aristoi constantly on a war footing and fighting. 4° Some didaskaloi (priests or poets) whose knowledge is extensive but more or less illusory. 5° Lastly, a numerous and working populace eager for riches and refractory to all paideia.
