Left Ventricular Function Immediately after Exercise in Elite Cyclists

Abstract: To determine the response to exercice of the left ventricle of endurance-trained athletes, 6 elite (world class) cyclists were compared to 6 untrained healthy control subjects. In athletes the stroke volume increased with exercise. In untrained volunteers the stroke volume did not change with exercice.
