“…Also, the PAS‐positive reaction has shown that vicinal diol contains mucins mixed other mucins. These results correspond to that of earlier authors (Suprasert and Fujioka, 1987; Srisai et al., 2002). In contrast to Kum (2002), we did not define an apparent decrease in the reaction when PAS‐diastase staining method was applied to determine the presence of glycogen.…”

“…In this study, the PAS‐positive reaction revealed the presence of neutral, sialidase‐labile sialomucins and weakly sulphated acid mucins in the secretory units and excretory duct cells of the cervical and thoracic parts of the oesophagus in all age groups (Bancroft and Cook, 1984). This observation was similar to that reported for oesophageal glands in the chicken (Suprasert and Fujioka, 1987; Shibata et al., 1991). Also, the PAS‐positive reaction has shown that vicinal diol contains mucins mixed other mucins.…”

“…Meanwhile, the MG of the ALG and the PLG contained both neutral and acid mucin. However, these results seem similar to that founded in chicken [17] and in red jungle fowl [6]. The results of current study showed different reactions with alcian blue stain when the PH changed indicating that the LG contained weak acid mucin, and the MG and the PLG had strong acid mucin with the carboxylated and sulphated groups.…”
