Layered hydroxide anion exchanger and their applications related to pesticides: a brief review

Abstract: Layered double hydroxides and layered hydroxide salts have generated enormous excitement in the inorganic field due to their potential to act as versatile host materials in fabricating novel host-guest layered materials. The ability of the layered hydroxide anion exchanger to be incorporated with a wide range of guest ions enable them to be exploited in various applications related to pesticides. This review sums up the different methods of preparing layered hydroxide anion exchanger, summarises the types of a… Show more

“…In some cases, LDHs may also contain M + (Li + ) and M 4+ (Ti 4+ ) . LDHs are usually chemically inert, which ensures their excellent biocompatibility and further biomedical applications . For example, a type of LDH, “Talcid”, with the composition of Mg 6 Al 2 (CO 3 )(OH) 16 ⋅ 4 H 2 O, has been commercialized for more than 20 years as an anti‐pepsin and gastric‐acid‐neutralizing agent …”

“…The uniform interlayer galleries of the LDHs allow its application as membranes for gas/liquid separations [38]. Their excellent anion exchange capacity stimulates the use as host-guest materials applied in the pesticide-related field [39]. The improved thermal, mechanical and rheological properties of PNCs containing LDHs significantly enhance the performance on flame retardancy and physical properties of the paper and epoxy resin [40,41].…”
