“…53 Regarding the low wavenumber region of the spectrum (400-800 cm −1 ), it is expected that bands correspond to metal-oxygen and metalhydroxyl vibration modes in the LDH sheets. [54][55][56] These bands confirm the Zn-Al LDH structure. 57 In the spectrum of the ZnAl-CD LDH nanohybrid ( Figure 3B), the characteristic peak associated with the parent LDH-like hydroxide group, which also arises from the phenolic hydroxides, appears at 3,390.4 cm −1 , which, together with the emergence of bands below 1,000 cm −1 , indicates that the layers structure of LDH has not changed during the intercalation process.…”

“…The same is reported in the literature also . It corresponds to a gallery height of 2.75 Å in pristine LDH with carbonate ions as the main species in the interlayer where the brucite like LDH main layer have a thickness of 4.8 Å, but when under intense ultra‐sonication LDH interlayer is intercalated by acrylamide monomers the basal spacing shifts from 7.55 Å to 7.65 Å. Further, under intense ultra‐sonication and assisted by the presence of catalyst and polymerization initiator the acrylamide in the interlayer positions undergo further polymerization as a result the basal spacing shifts further.…”

“…Riaz and Ashaf [ 85 ] have given a short review of recent research into the intercalation and delivery of anti-cancer drugs using LDHs. To date, LDHs have been utilized as nanocarriers for many anti-cancer drugs, such as folinic acid [ 48 ], methotrexate [ 48 , 50 , 86 , 87 , 88 , 89 , 90 , 91 , 92 , 93 ], 5-flourouracil [ 94 , 95 , 96 , 97 ] and doxifluridine [ 17 ], comptothecin [ 98 , 99 , 100 ], K 7 [PTiW 10 O 40 ]·6H 2 O [ 101 ], podophyllotoxin [ 102 ], and doxorubicin [ 103 ].…”

“…In the meantime, Chakraborty and Ghosh [ 88 , 89 , 90 , 91 , 92 ] also prepared MTX–LDH by different methods and studied the particle dissolution and subsequent drug release properties from the matrix in PBS solution. A striking enhancement in efficacy/sensitivity of MTX against HCT-116 cells was obtained when intercalated within the LDH host, as revealed by the attainment of the half maximal inhibitory concentration of MTX–LDH nanohybrid after only 48 h, whereas bare MTX required 72 h to achieve the same effect.…”
