Latest Customizations of XP: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract: Abstract-Software development process model plays a key role in developing high quality software. However there is no fit-for-all type of process model exist in software industry. To accommodate some specific project's needs, process models have to be tailored. Extreme Programming (XP) is a well-known agile model. Due to its simplicity, best practices and disciplined approach researchers tried to mold it for various types of projects and situations. As a result a large number of customized versions of XP are a… Show more

“…Unlike the revision of the literature for a narrative or descriptive scope, this methodology involves documenting all the procedures undertaken (Ginieis, Sánchez-Rebull, and Campa-Planas 2012). Sharing what is claimed by some authors (Denyer and Neely 2004), this section describes the steps of the methodology used (Anwer and Aftab 2017). They are reported below.…”

“…For the selection of most relevant research articles with high quality measures, a detailed procedure is adopted in this study along with some specific structure and boundary lines as explained by [21] and [22]. Guidelines for this Systematic Literature Review are also taken from latest review papers in software engineering domain such as [23], [24], [25].…”

“…These basic principles are about frequent team communication, customer satisfaction, managing frequent changing requirements even at later stages of development and early delivery of partial working software [1], [28], [31], [33], [35], [47], [48]. Many agile process models are used by the software industry now a days such as: Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum, Feature Driven Development (FDD), and Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) [3], [5], [11], [37]. Extreme programming (XP) is one of popular agile process models for the development of small scale projects as well as widely used by the software industry [5], [41], [42], [43], [51].…”
