Latency-aware Reliable mmWave Communication via Multi-point Connectivity

Abstract: The sensitivity of millimeter-wave (mmWave) radio channel to blockage is a fundamental challenge in achieving lowlatency and reliable connectivity. In this paper, we explore the viability of using coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission for a delay bounded and reliable mmWave communication. We provide an iterative algorithm for the time-average sumpower-minimization problem by solving a system of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions. We use the Lyapunov optimization framework and derive a dynamic… Show more

“…We consider a SWIPT system with K = 4 UEs being served by a BS equipped with a uniform linear array (ULA) of N t = 8 antennas. For simplicity, we assume the same parameters for all UEs, i.e., noise variance δ 2 k = −50 dBm and σ 2 k = −70 dBm; (8) [11].…”

“…Thus, we use the queue backlogs {Q k (t)} as latency measure, and impose the allowable upper bound {Q th k } for each time slot. Specifically, we consider a probabilistic constraint on user-specific queue length [11], defined as…”
